Arrow GW2 transition quests/mission

My suggestion(which Ive been considering for near on a month) is that NC soft works on several quests/missions that would lead into GW2 based on the article "The Movement Of The World" by Ree Soesbee. It could be a promotion tool for GW2 that could be free in an attempt to boost sales for GW2 or they could charge a minimal fee for it. The contents would be a set of missions like those in the bonus missions pack which could be triggered by a fortune teller in each respective location(Fortune teller(Or Glint/Kuvvang) in Ascalon allows you to play the sprectral force of ascalon pushing back the Charr, Kaineng city would be the fighting of the Luxons and Kurzicks to stop their fighting, play as a group of fleeing Ascalonians who witness the rise of Orr, etc). Arena Net could release one each week for X(10?) weeks up to the release showcasing the major changes in Tyria.

I do have a few more ideas for other missions and things that A net could use to lead up to GW2. If Gaile or someone else from A net would like to hear them please contact me.

that sounds great. Maybe if they made it so that it is a one time fee, like the bonus mission pack, except, as mentioned above, the missions/quests, come out every week or so, some what like a subscription to a magazine.

I would love to play in the final battle of ascalon or witness the destruction of the krytan shores thanks to Orr. Also Jokos takeover of Elona and perhaps a mission with the Order of Whispers finally uncovering the true threat to Tyria.

I would think that is a very good idea, although it would probably significantly delay the release date of the game.

While BMP style missions would be acceptable for GW1, anything other than that; e.g. what happened when the other games were released, Factions, Nightfall, Eye of the North - simply would not be acceptable.

I would like GW to stay at the time it's at, not jump ahead however many hundred years. Essentially, all that would be doing is then we would have two GW2 games, and that's just silly.

GW should be left alone completely at that stage, just the skill balances and etc., but no content like this suggestion. Promotions can be done with a nice CG video and actual GW2 content teasers.

As for a BMP-style transition, I simply think it doesn't belong in GW. It hasn't happened yet, characters from hundreds of years ago can't be transitioned into the future when GW itself is staying in the past. I don't want to see GW1 players practically being forced to get GW2 if they don't like it, as we're basically forced at the moment to buy EotN if we want to remain competitive.

Obviously GW2 shouldn't be adding content to GW1, like skills, not even missions or quests. I think there's better ways to excite people without messing up lore and/or other things in a fine standalone series itself. Let GW2 be GW2 and GW1 be GW1.

GREAT idea to add interest and hype to GW2 when we get closer to release.

The OP is suggesting BMP missions that are triggered via a fortune teller/seer (Which Guild Wars 1 already has in the form of Glint) and put you in the place of characters from that time. Essentially allowing you to see the events that unfold before GW2 and after GW1. You wouldnt be forced to do it since it would be optional.....and it doesnt affect lore.

Not really, say for example if they were to just recycle last years Canthan new year for this year and have the people who would have been working on that instead focus on these missions it wouldn't delay it by much if at all, just depends on what they set their focus on. Since GW2 is currently looking like it will be released late this year they have plenty of time.

/signed for more BMP like stuff that tells things that don't take place in GW1's time

I would very much like to see things like the Exodus, Dhuum's fall, Joko becoming a lich, and various other things that already happened, but things that take place between GW1 and GW2 will do fine as well. Especially if the books won't cover them.

Linsey stated that some of Anet staff who work on GW2 stay overtime to put some work into GW1. They can use that time to put work to new content such as a new BMP. And 4 areas would not push it back as much as you make it sound. And by how Regina and others sound, GW2 is far into development (reasoning behind no info out is due to some policy, the name of which I forgot), so I'm sure they got most things for GW2 down by now - they should be able to spare some people who work on textures.

You'd still get GW2, and you'd be able to get this "bonus mission pack". I'm not suggesting this instead of GW2, merely suggesting that they do this aswell.
